Calgary city is found within the province of Alberta in Canada and is located at the point where the Bow River and the Elbow River converge. The beautiful city is surrounded by hills, plains, grasslands, lowlands, and a generally magnificent natural environment. Sizewise, Calgary is the largest city of Alberta Province, and one of the largest cities in Canada.
Calgary has experienced a speedy growth over the years because of its thriving oil industry, and as such, it has become the industrial, financial, technological, transportation, and tourism hub of its region.
Apart from the numerous museums that showcase the growth and development of Calgary, visitors like to visit the large restaurants and shopping malls in the city, as well as hang out in the numerous nightclubs and discos for that magical nightlife experience. The 1,228 meter-high clock tower is the center of Calgary attractions, but the same applies to the Calgary Zoo, the famous Olympic Park, the stunning Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, as well as the famous Fish Creek Provincial Park which is known for biking and hiking.

When to visit Calgary

The climate of Calgary is typically the humid continental one, which is classified as Dwb under the Köppen climatic classification. The weather is characteristic of warm and pleasant summers and cold, dark, and snowy winters, as well as mild but tolerable transitional periods during spring and autumn.
During winter, from December to February, the days are cold and the nights get even colder. The temperature during the day ranges between 0.7°C (33.3°F) and -0.9°C (30.4°F) and at nights it drops to between -12.3°C (9.9°F) and -17.3°C (0.9°F). Occasionally, weather becomes freezing as the temperature reads between -20°C (-4°F) and -30°C (-22°F) on average.
Winter experiences high snowfall that leads to most rivers and streams freezing up throughout the season. The snow measures an average of 15cm per month during winter, and there are up to eight snowy days each month. Luckily, it is not very rainy during winter, with an average of 10mm (0.4") in precipitation being experienced across approximately seven days per month.
Summer, on the other hand, lasts from May to August and Calgary warms up with an average of 14.4°C (57.9°F) as the daily mean temperature. The days are warm to hot, though, with the mercury in the range of 26.7°C (80.1°F) and 32.3°C (90.1°F). At night, the temperature drops to a range of 4.1°C (39.4°F) and 10.1°C (50.2°F). Most of the rainfall is received in summer, albeit not to very high amounts, as the average precipitation is approximately 60mm (2.4") across approximately eleven and a half days of rain.
The best time to visit Calgary is during summer, from May to August. This time has the best weather complete with dry days and warm, pleasant temperature ranges. During this interval, many summer festivals are held in Calgary, and it makes the perfect time to tour the city and learn a thing or two.
The famous Calgary Stampede Rodeo is held in July, the Calgary Folk Music Festival is held in the same month, and in September Calgary holds the annual Calgary International Film Festival.
